Helenswood School Ofsted Report
Helenswood School hosted a Section 5 reduced tariff inspection on Wednesday 25th March 2009. Previous inspections were a Section 5 in March 2006, and an inspection of History provision in April 2008.
In March 2009 the school was judged to be ‘satisfactory’ with good features in personal development and well being, care, guidance and support.
The team identified the areas for whole school improvement as:
- Ensure consistency of good teaching and assessment in all departments, and most particularly in the sixth form, to raise standards and to encourage students to become independent learners.
- Make rigorous use of assessment and information about students’ progress to address underachievement, especially amongst students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
The Helenswood School team will now be working further on the school development plan to ensure that the requirements of the inspection team are matched with our own aspirations for the school, and the girls’ future well being.
