Helenswood School Code of Conduct
- We RESPECT each other, never saying or doing anything which might cause offence to others.
- We CO-OPERATE fully with members of staff, following instructions the first time they are given.
- We VALUE school property and the property of others, treating it with care.
- We STRIVE to reach our full potential.
A STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITIES
All these rules also apply on the journey to and from school
All staff instructions must be obeyed immediately.
General Organisation
- I must arrive on time to school and to lessons and have the correct books and equipment with me as necessary.
- I must wear correct school uniform. If there is a problem, I must bring a note of explanation from home and must borrow items of uniform (not shoes) from the School Office.
- I should only bring with me items which are needed for my learning. I must keep my money and keys with me at all times (not in my bag).
- I must not eat, chew or drink anywhere except in the Dining Room or Picnic Area.
- I must not smoke anywhere on the school premises. I must not have with me cigarettes, matches, alcohol or any illegal substance. If I am with someone who breaks this rule I may be punished as well.
- If I need to leave a lesson, I must carry a card to show I have permission:
- yellow: a visit to the toilet or office if I am ill
- blue: official business (e.g. collecting books etc at the request of a member of staff)
- red: fetching an adult to remove a student.
Breaks and Lunchtimes
- No food or drink may be taken out of the Dining Hall. Food or drink brought from home is consumed in the Dining Room or Picnic Area.
- From the beginning of the Summer Term until the October half-term, when it is dry, I must go outside.
- If it is wet I may sit in the ‘wet’ rooms quietly.
SCHOOL UNIFORM
The school uniform is an important part of ensuring that we continue to meet our high expectations of attainment, attendance and behaviour.
The school uniform requirements are laid out clearly in the current prospectus, and all items are available from JB Ward and SuperStitch. Current requirements are:
- Jade green Helenswood polo shirt
- Navy Helenswood sweatshirt
- Navy Helenswood skirt OR navy Helenswood trousers
- Navy or black plain weatherproof coat/jacket
- Suitable low-heeled black school shoes (no trainers, sandals or boots)
- Navy, black or white ankle/knee length socks or navy, black or beige tights
- (Optional) - Navy Helenswood fleece
ALL HELENSWOOD ITEMS CARRY THE SCHOOL LOGO
All uniform must be named.
Please could you ensure that your daughter has the correct uniform when she leaves for school each morning. Black plimsolls are not to be worn in place of low-heeled black school shoes, and school tights should be plain navy, black or beige. For health and hygiene reasons we do continue to ask that hair is tied back, and a reminder that extreme coloured hair and accessories are not to be worn to school.
We are justifiably proud of our school uniform, and want to ensure that all students maintain a high standard of dress.
